The fasting diet clashes with the (too widespread) idea expressed in the sentence: "I believe that the best thing is to eat everything in the right measure".
While reading the book "The diet of longevity of Dr. Valter Longo" I found myself in front of a sentence in which I had already encountered several times. The sentence is the one quoted above, that is "I believe that the best thing is to eat everything in the right measure".
It drives me crazy when I hear it (in any more or less equivalent version)! and it seems that even the learned Longo did not really accept it that day when on page 56 tells of a nutritional consultation visit made to the mother of a child in need of dietary corrections.
Premise: Since we all feed, many think they are experts on the "feeding" topic and to be able to have your say on the subject. It does not matter what academic training has been done or what level of detail has been achieved in this discipline.
Once, says Dr. Longo, a mother had accompanied her son to the professor's office for nutritional counseling.
First the lady asks Dr. Longo what she and her son had to eat. Then, without even letting him finish answering, the mother immediately replies a little aggressively by shooting the typical bar phrase ...
"I think the best thing is to eat everything in the right measure".
At that point Professor Longo rightly answers her with two questions ...
1. What does it mean in the right measure?
2. Would you take a plane designed by you or an engineer working at your city's airport?
But I say to myself, if you go to a consulting appointment at a nutrition luminary like Dr. Longo and then you practically tell him "let go, what he proposes to me makes me sick, after all I already know what is right to do. Just eat a little of everything enough ".
How on earth do you end up with such an important and complex topic with a statement that is so generic and imprecise that in practice it makes anything possible? that is, you can eat EVERYTHING and establish what this blessed right measure is. Of course! how had I not thought of it before?
It seems to me that it's more like one psychological protection barrier useful for quietly continuing to do all that has been done so far.
Why bother 25 years of research and superhuman efforts by scientists all over the world. Let's go on like this with thenaive intuition of "a bit of everything" that protects against any inconvenient change. And peace ...
I do not say that life is not difficult. Life is also difficult but really everything (or almost) is in our possibilities, it only depends on what we are willing to do (or give up doing) to achieve it.
Why am I introducing the mimic fasting diet starting from this anecdote?
I do it because the fast miming diet is the most difficult part of the therapeutic-nutritional approach developed by Professor Longo's team. It is difficult but can bring infinitely greater benefits than the efforts required to implement it.
Also, consider that:
- It is not difficult in the same way for everyone. Someone finds it relatively easy to implement.
- Normally it is difficult for the first cycle from 5 days. Then the subsequent cycles are often easier to put into practice.
- The L-Nutra products associated with the fasting diet help in implementing and obtaining maximum benefits (I will introduce them later but it is not mandatory to use them to do it).
In the book "The diet of longevity"Valter Longo explains how his integrated nutritional approach is composed of two parts: the longevity diet and fast miming diet.

Part #1 Diet of longevity
Basic approach to follow for one's own daily food.
I explained this part in detail in the previous one article "Diet of longevity of Prof. Valter Longo: is it really the healthiest and safest approach to live healthy up to 110 years?".
Part #2 Diet fast mimic
The fasting diet is that part of special diet which fits into the diet of longevity, replacing this for 5 days every 1-6 months.
That is, depending on the individual condition the mimic fasting diet, which lasts 5 days + 1 of transition, has a frequency that can vary from monthly and half-yearly.
In general, people in physiological (normal) conditions who want to increase their chances of longevity and health it is sufficient that they repeat it only once every 6 months.
So 5 days would be mimic diet fasting every 6 months. Twice a year.
What is the fasting diet?
PHASE #1: Preparation
We eat completely according to the indications of longevity diet including the use of a good multivitamin-multimineral and omega-3 of adequate quality.
PHASE #2: Diet mimic fasting
In the first day they are used 1100 calories coming half from vegetables and half from good fats. They also add vegetable proteins.
Day 2, 3, 4, 5
In the days from the second to the fifth calories are reduced to 800. Half of which come from vegetables and half from good fats. Vegetable proteins are reduced.
PHASE #3 Transition to the normal diet (diet of longevity)
The sixth day is dedicated to the modulated return to the diet of longevity. This means eating more but avoiding consumption of fish, meat, sugar and dairy products for 24 hours.
Note: I do not intentionally go into more detail on nutrient quantities. These in fact are information that should be acquired directly from the book, which was written for this purpose.
Fasting diet: possible side effects (during 5 days)
It is easier for blood pressure drops to occur which can lead to fainting if subjected to excessive heat or excessive physical effort.
This leads to the suggestion to avoid taking a hot shower (including Turkish bath or sauna).
This is also a passing symptom and is often limited to the first day of a fasting diet. Excessive physical efforts are therefore not recommended.
Some passing pain in the back.
Who CAN'T make a diet mimic fasting?
There is a whole range of (special) conditions in which the fasting diet should not be implemented.
For example: pregnant women, anorexic or underweight individuals, people over the 70 years, in combination with insulin or hypertensive drugs, etc.
For the detailed and complete list of references to 130 page of the book "The diet of longevity" by prof. Valter Longo.
Under normal conditions, nothing prevents one or more fasting diet cycles, indeed it would obviously be desirable, but: 1) for safety, consult a doctor first e 2) consult a nutritionist to make you better address and to avoid mistakes.
Fasting diet: The evolution of traditional fasting
It is as if the fasting mimicking diet represents the2.0 evolution of fasting common.
I benefits of fasting in its various forms, such as total fasting (water only), fasting with vegetable juices or intermittent fasting, are now undeniable and of vast scope.
One of the biological processes that is associated with the benefits of fasting is called autophagy. In practice, when you reduce calories as much as possible (especially from sugars and proteins) you force the body to get rid of expendable components (cell organelles and whole cells).
When you return to normal food, the processes of component reconstruction previously used, but this time they will be new and healthy (just born from the stem cell population).
Fasting leads all the benefits of traditional but more fasting makes it easier and more precise in his goal of healthy longevity.
How does fasting facilitate the approach to fasting?
Answer: Why do you eat! certainly not overeating but a solid diet is foreseen, restricted to certain foods and with a calorie intake limit.
How does fasting make the health-giving goal of fasting more precise?
Answer A: Because there is the option of L-Nutra products which are formulated with a technology that allows a precise and balanced dosage of nutrients. So there is no need to weigh or put together food hoping to have made a good combination.
Answer B: Because it has an experimental basis which starts to be quite consistent. This gives confidence in relying on mimic fasting compared to other alternative forms of fasting.
L Nutra products: Why and how are they born?
Professor Longo explains why L Nutra products are born in his book. Almost all the patients asked him what they should eat during the fasting diet (even in synergy with an oncological therapy).
L Nutra products are therefore the answer of a company to a market request. They help those who intend to face a mimic fasting diet.
- Simplify life since you do not have to perform weighing or calorie calculations. It is already completely dosed in the individual containers.
- Use one nutritional technology specifically designed to optimize the goal of health and longevity of the fasting diet.
What are the L Nutra products?
The L Nutra catalog currently has two names: ProLon® e Chemolieve®.
ProLon® is the basic kit suitable for all those who want to face a period of real fasting diet.
Chemolieve® instead it was specifically formulated for the needs of cancer patients. It is a garrison subjected to clinical trials at some of the most authoritative oncological clinics in the world.
Apparently some results obtained with the synergistic use of chemotherapy and fasting diet are striking.
The mechanism that leads to these results out of the ordinary seems to reside in what Professor Longo calls it magic shield.
The magic shield defines the mechanism by which healthy cells, during a diet free of sugars and with very little protein, go into a mode of high protection.
While healthy cells during fasting mimics are in a state of high protection cancer cells are "discovered" because they do not respond to sugar and protein deficiency signals.
Thanks to this state of high protection it is as if the healthy cells of the body wore a "protective shield". This protective shield protects normal cells from bombardment immediately during a treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy, increasing its effectiveness.

Dieta mima jejunum: General benefits and rejuvenation effects
3 elements (also called risk factors) are the basis of the disease process according to Professor Longo.
Element #1: Wrong diet (industrialized, overprocessed and unbalanced)
Element #2: Toxins (see also the DT3 program which specifically addresses the problem of toxins)
Element #3: Aging
These 3 elements are the major risk factors of the most widespread diseases currently widespread. I mean:
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Autoimmune diseases
The fasting diet intervenes at bring back the hands of biological time of cells every time we dedicate 5 to you days of our commitment.
So, every fasting diet cycle again lowers the negative influence that [wrong diet + toxins + aging] have on health and longevity.
Each fasting mimic cycle rejuvenates the cells and tissues of the body.
Le new cells that replace aged and damaged ones confer greater protection against numerous diseases.
Other positive effects they can be: brighter skin, less drowsiness and more energy, greater mental clarity and ability to avoid food excesses once they return to normal food.
For those who are subject to health problems it is excluding self-therapy with the fasting diet. In this case it is necessary to contact your doctor to present him the desire to try this therapeutic food approach.
Even in the case of healthy subjects, it is always advisable to consult a nutritionist, who will be able to set the best plan for the fasting diet.
For any information you can contact the L-Nutra team directly Italy as referents for the mimic fast diet carried out with their kits ready.
You can also contact them to be referred to a nutritionist who has trained in Professor Longo's nutritional approach.
This way you can better cope with the fasting diet even without having to buy the kit products.
The fast miming diet represents an extraordinary opportunity to make a leap forward in quality of life and in its extension.
If you wish to experience fasting, fasting appears to be one of the best ways to do it. Both because with the presence of solid foods put something in your belly, both because it is built on exceptionally solid foundations.
Imagine being able to eliminate the damaged parts of your body (cells and tissues) in 5 days and replace them with new and healthy cells.
Isn't it incredible?
Once again the most powerful health tool comes from thebody intelligence. It is the body itself that does all this complex work, all you have to do is commit yourself to 5 days of dietary restriction.
If you want to take the fasting diet, I advise you to do it well. This means avoid experimenting well and be followed by a nutritionist who specializes in this approach.
