Perhaps you have already encountered it among the ingredients of some jam, or you've seen it inside one winter herbal tea. The Rosehip (or Wild Rose) is a super-fruit, which I am lucky enough to collect fresh every winter just 10 'drive from my home.
Also this winter I went out to the woods to fill up with Rosa Canina berries (botanical name of these fruits: rosehips).
Even if I sometimes buy this fruit in dried form, having it fresh - ready to use - in the refrigerator is priceless 🙂

What are the real benefits of this winter berry and how to use it to get the most out of it?
In the article I answer these questions, and I tell you how I use it in fresh form (and also in a dried form when the fresh one is not available).
The Rosa Canina produces a delicious fruit, is to be used in herbal teas than in jams, but also owns several real therapeutic properties and health support.
Here's what I found in scientific archives about the Rosa Canina:
EFFECT #1 Natural anti-inflammatory1
Why not use the Rosa Canina instead of aspirin? did you know thataspirin kills more than some of the viruses considered among the most dangerous?
…Thing? the most dangerous aspirin of the deadly viruses? no, I did not think that the risk was even this. Then you're talking to me about aspirin, let alone other less "harmless" drugs. Whenever I hear these things about drugs the "leaflet" comes to mind and why it is called that!
The searches report that the various forms of aspirin (based on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) produce in the unsuspecting consumers tens of thousands of complications and hospitalizations every year in the world.7
Not only ... these drugs (harmless?) also produce thousands of deaths7 (every year).
Of course, sometimes (applies to all drugs) this drug must also be used, or more precisely, it is right to follow the instructions of the medical doctor if at the moment there are no alternatives effective and safe.
But if you are in a position to choose natural alternatives, then the Rosa Canina is a valid one alternative to aspirin (as the researches confirm, this acts on them enzymes COX1 and COX2 own how does aspirin).
So in every inflammation condition in which you are not necessarily "obliged" to resort to drugs, Rosa Canina is a help concrete e free of unpleasant side effects (unlike drugs) and it is also very pleasant if you use it in the form of tisane.
Note: maybe you already know thehigh Vitamin C content of this berry, but many of its actions are determined by other components naturally present in the Rosa Canina (ie they are independent of Vitamin C content, and this shows you that this fruit has its own its own therapeutic action)
What are the inflammatory conditions in which Rosa Canina can help you?
In general all, that is, all the discomforts whose medical definition ends with -ite (precisely because this acts on the main enzymes that modulate inflammation).
Some examples: arthritis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, otitis, rhinitis (cold), gingivitis*, but also fever, and other inflammatory disorders.
* for the gingivitis and other problems involving the mucosa and mouth tissues you can try to make gods oral washes with herbal tea or glycerine macerate of this berry.
EFFECT #2 (Powerful) Antioxidant2 4
Why would you need to antioxidant protection?
A large number of are constantly formed in our body free radicals that wander through the body until they encounter one healthy molecule, at that point as soon as they come into contact with this they ruin it almost always irreparably.
If a free radical attacks the cell membrane for example, it is as if a small bomb were thrown on exterior walls of a house, the impact would create a crack and probably a second bomb thrown on the same crack would create a hole.
From that hole the house would collapse in a short time (and one cell would die and others nearby would suffer the same fate as one chain reaction).
Likewise, free radicals turn to do damage to the body attacking DNA, the membrane cell phones, e other molecules functional cells.
Here come into play antioxidants, that they sacrifice themselves (and often regenerate by returning to new life after sacrifice, resurrecting) against free radicals to save cell health and interrupt the reaction of destruction chain unleashed by free radicals.
Cells have their own natural set of antioxidants, but outside help is always welcome and useful. Rosa Canina has been shown to act as a good antioxidant and thus earns a place in the antioxidant and anti-aging drugs natural.
EFFECT #3 It reduces bone and joint problems5
THEosteoarthritis, also known as arthrosis, it's a degenerative disease which concerns the articular cartilage (located between the joints). The sufferer feels it joint stiffness, pain e swelling.
For the problems of osteoarthritis, the Rosa Canina has proved useful reducing symptoms of this disease and decreasing the need to resort to drugs. This berry is also associated with drugs useful for pain relief and return to a condition of joint health.
In an other study6 the positive effect of this berry was also helpful in relieving chronic pains of the part lumbar of the back.
How many suffer from backache and do they find a useful relief to this problem? A valid answer e safety could reside in the wild rose. It is certainly worth it try!
… Approved: here you really hit a “sore spot”! … And if this berry is really that good then to hell with ibuprofen! and on with the wild rose.
EFFECT #4 Painkiller effect6
When you have pain, the only thought on your mind is to let it go immediately and in any way! Hence the Moment in the medicine drawer, the usual aspirin (see above the risks associated with the use of aspirin), etc.
So, what do you think of the hypothesis of keeping a tin of Rosa Canina tablets to use in time of need (hoping not to need it ...)?
If al arising of a pain try a couple of tablets of this super berry, it could also be sufficient for eliminate the problem in the bud, saving you the need to resort to the moment, aspirin or other drug products.
Note: you may find around the web someone who says that Rosa Canina seeds could be toxic, but this is something that does not find any confirmation in the literature or even in experience, moreover in the research that I report at the end of the relative article the pain-relieving effect6 they also use the seeds of the fruit.
So we can rest easy and also use the seeds (in the herbal tea or even inserted in a centrifuged or smoothie of fresh fruit as I have done many times too).
Moving on to practice, what are the most common ways to use Rosa Canina?
Clearly we can't all go to the woods to pick the fresh fruits of Rosa Canina, and in any case the fresh berries are available only in autumn and early winter.
So to have theefficacy similar to fresh fruit the forms I recommend are the following that you can find from yours herbalist of trust.
- Tablets or capsules of the form dried of the fruit, with the dosage recommended in the package (which depends on the content of each capsule / tablet.
- Glycerine macerate: It's a shape liquid which comes from the maceration in solution of the young fresh shoots of the plant. This is a very common form for fitorepici and is also excellent for Rosa Canina.
The dosage is of 50 drops in a little water, 1-3 times a day (like all the gemmoterapic macerates on the market) does not present any kind of toxicity neither acute nor chronic).
How is the dried fruit prepared?
In herbalist's shop you can also find the dried berries Rosa Canina bulk that you can use to prepare one delicious herbal tea. They are used for a cup of water 2-3 teaspoons from berry tea, then they leave infusion for 10 minutes.
How is the fresh fruit prepared?
If you have the chance to get yourself some fresh berries of Rosa Canina, then follow these simple steps.
- TO WASH. First of all wash the berries in running water.
- TO CUT. Then, cut them in half with a knife to allow thehot water to better extract the principles benefits of the fruit.
- INFUSION. Put in cold water (in a small saucepan of steel) the cut berries e almost boils (stop just before the water starts boiling) and then do simmer for 10 minutes. Water just has to make smoke, but it must not make bubbles.
- FILTER AND DRINK. After about ten minutes in hot water you can take a steel colander and you can proceed to filtration your herbal tea.
If you like it you can add some lemon juice (or even peel of lemon peel).
I almost always add a nice dose (2 spoons per half liter of water) of tea rooibos.
The rooibos tea has a good taste and fits perfectly with the idea of herbal tea against winter ailments.
In fact the rooibos has an effect antiviral, improves the parameters of the glucose in the blood, helps the regeneration of the liver and fights thehypertension.
This herbal tea of Rosa Canina (also prepared from the bags that you can find in herbal medicine or if you prefer to use tablets / capsules) will help you to don't get sick during the cold season besides being of great help for i problems I listed you over it.
Remember that everything you read here is all the more valid the more you follow one really healthy lifestyle.
No one expects a miracle from the use of a single fruit, but we can expect great improvements in the prevention and in the state of health when there is one synergy between nutrition, lifestyle, physical and mental exercise.
In addition of course to all the corrective aids that i natural remedies they can offer when they are needed (and under the guidance of a doctor experienced in natural therapies).
Which, along with the right lifestyle, dramatically increase the chances of living a life without major health problems, indeed with more energy, vitality and good humor of the majority of people who do not implement these principles.
Be one wise person and let yourself be guided by common sense and the desire to improve.
See you soon,
