WHAT IS DETOX WATER
Here is what happens to vegetables and fruit cut into thin slices left to soak in water ...

INGREDIENTS TO AVOID
Cabbage, broccoli, turnips, potatoes are not really suitable for a detox water.
ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLES
CAUTION: The fruit and vegetables to be used in the detox water must always be from organic cultivation. What else would it be like to create a "purifying drink" with pesticide residues in it?
In fact, remember that the fruits and vegetables used in the detox water are with the peel, one more reason to avoid vegetables grown with pesticides.
The same reasoning applies to water. Only pure water of adequate quality (Plose, Sant'anna, Levico, Lauretana) in a glass bottle should be used.
Avoid tap water (unless it was first filtered in a jug with activated carbon filter) and avoid water in plastic bottles.
I did my experiment this way ...
While shopping at the organic shop I had a goal in mind: to prepare my detox water that was good to drink and super healthy (purifying, alkalizing, antioxidant, slightly anti-inflammatory).
So I chose seasonal fruit and vegetables suitable for this purpose.
So I put together an arsenal of fresh fruit and vegetables consisting of:
- 1 lemon (a bit of juice, slices and rind)
- 1 piece of turmeric
- 1 / 2 cucumber
- 1 / 2 chili pepper
- 3 spoons of blueberries (cut in half)
- 2 nectarine peaches
- 1 piece of ginger
THE PROCEDURE IS THE FOLLOWING:
- Wash fruits per vegetable (organic)
- Finely slice
- Put everything in a large glass jar (from 1 liter)
- Fill with pure water to the brim
- Close the container cap
- Leave to rest overnight
After a night of maceration at room temperature, your detox water is ready for tasting. In the morning, in fact, you will not be able to resist tasting it right away
If you want you can put the jar in the fridge (with fruit and vegetables still in the water) and consume the cool detox drink. In this way it will become even more inviting, pleasant and refreshing (not frozen, but fresh ...).
This is how the detox water I prepared appears.

INGREDIENTS TO ENRICH AND ENHANCE DETOX WATER
One way to increase the health power of your detox water is to aalso add spices or herbal teas, which enrich the taste and provide certain additional benefits.
As other ingredients you can add detox to water:
- Spices: mint, coriander, star anise, cardamom, etc. to be ground or shredded. Not whole, because otherwise they would not effectively release their healthy compounds in water. Did you know that dried spices retain their antioxidant power? a survey by the University of Urbino has shown - with a certain surprise - how dried spices maintain their protective power against free radicals. Use them!
- Green Tea: it is one of the most protective and beneficial plants we have available. It has a fat-burning effect and protects the heart, arteries and is also a powerful natural aid against cancer and degenerative diseases.
- Herbal Teas: karkadé, rosehip, orange blossom, etc. (experiment with creativity).
Put the powders or the shredded leaves inside a filter (gauze or filters for herbal teas) and leave to soak all night in water together with the other vegetables.
WHEN TO DRINK WATER DETOX
Better to drink the detox water drink on an empty stomach, so before meals or between meals. The ideal is in the morning as soon as you wake up 15-30 minutes before breakfast. The detox water you have prepared should preferably be consumed within 24 hours following the night of maceration.
THE CELLS LOVE THE HORMETIC EFFECT (LOW DOSES)
Do we want to add a pinch of theory behind the beneficial effects of detox water (in addition to the micronutrients indicated above)?
There is a principle that some people also use to explain the functioning of certain homeopathic remedies (in particular those with DH decimal dilution), which is called hormesis or Ormetic Principle.
The Ormetic Principle, also called Arndt – Schulz Law, shows how stimuli of certain substances used at low concentrations determine a greater activation of cellular metabolic responses. On the contrary, stimuli at high concentrations of the same determine a suppression of cellular metabolic responses.
A parallel can be made between this principle and homeopathy (a decimal dilution, in which molecules of functional principle are still present) on the one hand, and pharmacology on the other.
In the first case, the processes of are stimulated self-healing of the organism, while in the second case, it comes suppressed the answer of the organism (the symptoms).
Certainly cells are living units that are ultra-sensitive to environmental stimuli, and even weak (and frequent) stimuli play a decisive role in the processes of health and disease.
Take nutrigenomics as an example (the discipline that studies the dynamics with which food and nutritional principles act on genes).
Nutrigenomics has precisely defined with which many natural molecules (curcumin, capsaicin, polyphenols such as epigallocatechin-3-gallate, and many others) activate or deactivate certain genes. Which are then associated with the possibility of developing pathologies or donating greater health.
These molecular signals that come from food are powerful and 'weak' at the same time. They are powerful because they can act on your genetic material (it's incredible!), But to do it you have to let them act frequently, for example every day.
That is why it is what you do every day that determines the direction of your mental and physical health.
Detox waters are a fantastic way to give your body these weak, healthy signals every day by ensuring that they have a positive impact on health, wellness and energy.
After you have drunk the detox water content, what should you do?
After drinking the detox water content, you'll stay with a container full of excellent fruit and vegetables, which we want to throw away? Nope ...
... What remains is to transform it into a super healthy smoothie.
Incidentally, the detox recipe I experienced (and the ingredients I mentioned above) becomes just as good in the form of a shake.
The only caveat is to use a little spicy chili * like the Italian ones. Don't use a habanero please! 🙂
* Chili: why use chilli? you should know that chili pepper has also been studied as a nutrigenomic principle. In fact, capsaicin (the principle that gives the spicy taste to the chili pepper) inhibits the accumulation of fat.
A bit of hot pepper used with some frequency counteracts the formation of fat. In addition, the fresh one is rich in vitamin C (which is water-soluble, so you can find it in the detox water).
